I don't go for the seminars. I find most of them aren't pitched at my level, and some are indeed too salesly. I go to meet the exhibitors, to just catch up with old friends, and to have a couple of beers. I really like chatty to the CMS vendors when you get the right kind of person. Some of them have been in the game for many a long year and are funny and wise. And some of them suck the big one ;-) I read your friend’s blog. I don’t go for the seminars. Similar to your example John, he even remarked that one CMS vendor asked "Do you have a Content Management System?" - to which he replied "yes - I have three in my top draw back at the office" and quickly walked off!
