Superspliced Open Text Logo Updated
She promised that she’d be right there with me
When I paint my masterpiece.
- WHEN I PAINT MY MASTERPIECE
Open Text’s recent acquisition of NStein means it is time to update the super-spliced Open Text logo that first made it’s appearance in the article When CMS Genes Won’t Splice, inspired by the aquisition of Vignette. So here it is in all of it’s glory, with a nice Red N added:
Feel free to use it all over the interwebs. That means you Miss Guseva – you promised.
Now I need OTEX to buy some companies with an ‘e’ in the logo. Are escenic, EPiServer or Ektron for sale, anyone? The companies gobbled into the logo are, for those that care:
- RedDot
- Obtree C4
- NStein
- Gauss
- Vignette
- Hummingbird
And, dear Open Text, please don’t sue me if this is illegal or brand tampering or anything else.
Colophon: MS Paint, and nothing but MS Paint.
You forgot IXOS.
Actually IXOS and Obtree merged to become IXOS-Obtree (catchy, I know)(slightly incorrect posting here: http://www.cmswatch.com/Blog/176-IXOS-buys-Obtree). The Obtree product was called Obtree C4 (Now Livelink WCM Presention Server Type 1 – even more catchy)
IXOS was a SAP integration specialist and Obtree C4 has a very nice SAP plugin (hence the merger) However it seems the plan was always to sell on to Open Text (Boo!)
You can try and grab the logo from this site: http://web.archive.org/web/20040121093152/www.ixos.com/?browser=2
I didn’t actually forget it – it even got a mention here:
http://jonontech.com/2009/05/10/will-vignette-give-open-text-food-poisoning/
Problem is I couldn’t do anything with there logo. Also, CMS Watch a.k.a. The Real Story Group have posted a full Open Text family tree here, which is worth a gander:

It took me long enough to find the logo. Yes, bit tricky that one…. still there will be more takeovers and then you start on “The Content Experts” strapline! (although still no I for IXOS…)
Nice MS Paint skills, when do you come up with a new text based post? Always keen to read more, of course only if fatherhood permits.. Cheers!
I’m not seeing any E’s in the near term horizon, but then I couldn’t say if I did
Actually there were many more Open Text acquisitions over the course of almost 20 years than the ones you’ve tracked. For a ~$1 billion software company the rate of acquisitions is fairly typical – it’s just that the ECM software sector has finally had players achieve this size and therefore acquisition rate.
May I just say what a relief to discover someone who genuinely
knows what they’re talking about on the internet. You certainly
understand how to bring an issue to light and make it important.
More and more people need to look at this and understand this side of the story.
I was surprised that you aren’t more popular because you definitely possess the gift.
Feel free to surf to my web page :: education (Jacquelyn)
Great beat ! I would like to apprentice whilst you amend your
